Chapter 8. Notifications

Notifications

Your website can send you and your members lots of information to help everyone know when certain events have occurred. The MANAGE NOTIFICATIONS control link allows you to select which items to tell you about and which ones to tell your members about.. This keeps you in the loop when someone comments or rates on your site, or responds to your Classifieds postings and more.
 
Click the MANAGE NOTIFICATIONS control link.

Once you have clicked the link you will see the following screen.

Notification Types:

Sent To You (these will be delivered to YOU automatically if set to ON)
  • Somebody commented on my media - When a visitor comments any picture, video or audio post, you get notified via email.
  • Somebody commented on my Blog - When a Blog entry gets commented, you get notified via email.
  • Somebody commented on my Classifieds - When an Ad you posted gets commented, you get notified via email.
  • Somebody rated my Media - When a visitor rates your pictures, videos or audio files, you get notified via email.
  • New user joined my site - When someone joins your site and security is set to "Automatically approve", you get notified via email.
  • New order placed - when you have e-commerce setup and somebody places new order you get notified via email
  • Product went out of stock - when you have e-commerce setup, you track your inventory and somebody buys last item out of your inventory you get notified via email
  • New user needs to be approved - When someone joins your site and security is set to "I must approve", you get notified via email.

NOTE: Members can choose to OPT OUT of these notifications at any time and you will NOT be able to force them to get the notifications once they have opted out.

Sent To My Users (these will get sent to your website Members automatically if set to ON)
  • New Blog added - When YOU ad/update a Blog posting on your site, ALL your members get notified via email.
  • New Media added - When YOU ad any media to your site, ALL your members get notified via email.
  • New Fun Facts added - When YOU post a new  Note/Journal/FunFact entry. ALL your members get notified via email.

NOTE: If a member of your website chooses to ADD an email address to a particular comment and check the "Email me about follow up comments" checkbox. An automatic email notification will be sent to them whenever another member comments on that particular media. You do NOT control this feature (Conversation tracking).

Editing Notifications

You may choose to click the EDIT MESSAGE link and change the text of ANY of the automatic notifications being sent by your website. Click SAVE once you have the text the way you like it.
