Mary-Belle is a girl of only nine though she is often mistaken as younger with the way that she sometimes dresses and acts. Mary suffers from a mild depression from the absense of her father that she hardly ever gets to see, and the scrutiny of the other children in her school. She feels as though she is never going to fit in despite the teachers telling her that one day she'll have a beautiful place to live with a stable jobs and identity to go with it.
Being the youngest in her family by a good ten years sometimes makes it difficult for her connect with her siblings and keep up with the pace of their home. She often feels left out and forgotten as her older half brother and sister rush into life as adults without giving a second thought about her.
She adores her older sister Aleesia of whom dotes on her whenever possible and often gives her the materialistic things that Mary-belle has always wanted. Though it is not these kinds of gifts she wants, she would much rather spend quality time with her but Aleesia never has time for that.
Mary-belle brings a unique prospective through a childs eyes on what the society may be to her and what come of that in the future for her. She gives readers an insight into another stage of life and how things are processed from a young age. She is a lovable character that will had all the readers wrapped around her pinky finger.
